Description
Sporting transformer-isolated circuitry and requiring no power to run, the Exo-Pod from Radial Engineering is a floor box designed to take the balanced output from any mixing console and distribute the signal to ten XLR outputs and four 3.5mm connections, giving you as many as 14 separate audio destinations for one signal. As such, the Exo-Pod is useful in broadcast applications, such as connecting to handheld recorders, video cameras, or wireless receivers.
Simply plug in a balanced XLR signal into the unit’s XLR input jack to get started. From there, the signal will be protected by a variety of different features, such as the 14-gauge steel casing to provide shielding against magnetic fields, as well as the transformer-isolated outputs. Each XLR output has its own ground lift switch to help exterminate hum or buzz from ground loops. On the side of the unit, a trim pot allows any broadcast technician to easily reduce output level across all 14 connections. An XLR loop-through allows you to daisy-chain the signal to additional units, while bumpers on the side protect the aforementioned throughput and the input. Rubber feet keep your floor scuff-free, and a steel handle allows for quick maneuverability and transport.
